This adorable pincushion frpm Monic Spicer featuring Hilda the Hippo was made from mousy-brown and baby pink long Sassy fur, and ultra suede for her ears and tiny tail. Her face was meticulously airbrushed and sculpted to give her that aloof ‘diva’ look. Her nostrils and mouth were hand embroidered with soft pink perle cotton. She has olive German glass eyes with framed by long eyelashes and eyelids. Her tiny tail was made from ultra suede.
Hilda wears a beautiful tutu made from pink organza ribbon and hand dyed silk ribbon straps that matche the bow on her head. To finish her adorable attire is a row of tiny pearls at her neck as well as her wrist. Black brocade fabric was used to make the pincushion. It is decorated with black frill and flower trims as well as a crocheted double flower on the center top of the pincushion, which stands on a black wire base.
The pincushion measures 9.5″ tall, from the base of the pincushion to the top of her head. The little hippo herself is only 11cm or just under 4.5″ tall. She’s sewn onto the pincushion with a few of stitches. Her arms and head are not jointed. She’s ladder stitched in place. This is a one-of-a-kind, handmade design from Monica Spicer.
